“Marlborough is not just a place to live; Marlborough is a way to live”.

Welcome to Marlborough Township!

We are pleased to provide you with this website and hope it will assist our present and prospective residents and business owners in becoming familiar with the many great attributes that Marlborough Township consists of.  Marlborough Township is a Township of the Second Class and is governed by a three-member Board of Supervisors, each of whom is elected at large by qualified voters of the Township for a six-year term.  The Board has appointed a fulltime Township Manager that directs and supervises the administrative, police and public works departments and serves as the Chief Administrative Officer in carrying out the adopted policies and annual budget adopted by the elected officials.  The Supervisors also appoints a nine-member Planning Commission and a five-member Parks & Recreation Board to make advisory recommendations.  A three-member Zoning Hearing Board plus an alternate, appointed by the Board of Supervisors, meets as a quasi-judicial body to interpret the zoning ordinance, consider granting relief from requirements of the zoning ordinance and permit specified uses by special exceptions.

Marlborough, located in northwestern Montgomery County was established in 1741.  Farming and small trades such, as powder mills and clock making were the predominant means of employment before WWII.  It is the most rural township in the county with a population of approximately 3,200 individuals residing within its 12.64 square miles.  This township is abundant with scenic Highlands resources including the Unami Creek, a designated high-quality waterway, the only one so designated in Montgomery County.  Like many of its neighboring municipalities, relatively modest population increases have taken place over the past twenty years.  Small communities within the township include the villages of Hoppenville, Perkiomenville and Sumneytown.
